    W. Va barn demolition reveals 19th century school

    MONTCALM, W.Va. (AP) -- A barn demolition project in Mercer County has uncovered a 19th century log school. Brian Pigg discovered the hand-hewn logs at his barn's core while removing siding. The barn is located on Browning Lambert Mountain in the Montcalm area. Retired Montcalm High School history teacher Jack Johnson tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraphthat the log structure was once known as the Mullins School. ROANOKE (WVVA) - A driver is dead after his tractor-trailer crashed on Interstate 81 in Botetourt County, Va., closing all lanes of traffic.

NBC affiliate WSLS reports that 51-year-old Wayne Richie Kratzer, of Mifflintown, Pennsylvania died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Kratzer's truck was carrying a poisonous material called thioglycol Thursday morning when it hit a guardrail, overturned and was struck by another tractor-trailer.

All north and southbound lanes were closed between mile marker 162 and 168 as HAZMAT crews work to clear the scene. WSLS reported traffic was backed up for more than 8 miles on both sides Thursday morning.

Northbound traffic was being diverted onto Exit 162 and back onto Interstate 81 Northbound at Exit 168. Southbound traffic was being diverted off the Interstate at Exit 168 onto US-11 South and back onto the Interstate at Exit 162.
