LEWISBURG (WVVA) - Students at Greenbrier East have made a special donation to local police that will help young victims in times of need.
Sheriff Jim Childers and his officers accepted boxes packed full of stuffed animals. The bears and other toys are kept on hand in police vehicles to comfort any child that may be a involved in a domestic situation where he or she must be taken into police care.
Teachers at Greenbrier East and members of the sheriff's department say the project is a good way to get teens involved with the community.
Childers said the practice of keeping teddy bears on hand has been a practice of his department and many others for years.
