Victims of Welch fire wonder: 'What's next?'

Posted:

WELCH (WVVA)-- The fire in the five-story building in Welch destroyed the homes of five families who lived in the apartments there.

Many of the residents are still in shock and the big question for them is what's next?

Amy Miller managed to grab a bag of clothes before she rushed to safety. However, Barney Rowe and his wife were left with nothing. They say they are fortunate to still be alive even though nothing was saved.

Miller has a 3-year-old son and a daughter on the way and she says she doesn't know what she is going to do. Most of the residents are staying with family and friends. The American Red Cross is set up at the Welch 911 center to help those in need.

A shelter has been set up at the Gary Community Center.
