Greater Greenbrier Chamber Meets Community Needs

Posted:

Greenbrier County (WVVA)-The Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce's Mega Business event was created over five years ago to meet the need of small businesses to showcase their products and services to a greater audience, according to Executive Director Katie Ickes. The event has grown to have over 100 businesses involved and is meeting that need and more. Now proceeds from the "Mega" will be used to meet other needs in the county with donations being made to Penny Pitch and Wellspring of Rupert.

The Mega Business Showcase and Marketplace was a great success and one feature of the evening was the best booth contest.

Vendors went all out with innovations, artistic displays and unique giveaways. Judge for this year's event was Tamera Pence of Bella's Corner Gourmet. Experience with staging for trade shows in North Carolina well prepared Tamera to evaluate the over 90 booths. She chose to give special attention to interaction with the public and chose the students and staff of Greenbrier County Schools as they demonstrated the importance of a Career and Technical Education and how they are being prepared to meet the needs of the 21 century workplace. Ronceverte Development Corporation and Coldwell Banker Real Estate won second and third, respectively. The People's Choice vote went to Gillespie's Flowers and Productions.
