BECKLEY (WVVA) - A woman is dead and a male behind bars following a stabbing in Raleigh County Sunday night.
Jeremy Lambert, 30, of Oak Hill, has been jailed on murder charges in the death of 25-year-old Cyan Elizabeth Maroney of Beckley.
The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. Sunday at a residence 618 Myers Avenue.
Maroney was found in a bedroom of her home with multiple stab wounds. She was transported by ambulance to Beckley ARH where she was pronounced dead.
Maroney, a native of Renick, was a student at Mountain State University and a member of the West Virginia Dance Company. She shared the Myers Avenue residence with three other female students.
Through investigation and witness statements Lambert was identified as the suspect. He was arrested four hours later by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office in the Fayetteville area.
Police believe the victim and suspect had a romantic relationship. Investigators say there appears to have been a struggle at the scene of the incident.
Lambert is being held without bond at Southern Regional Jail..
