MSU Accreditation Q&A From Community

BECKLEY (WVVA) - Many concerned citizens came to Mountain State University Thursday night to ask questions about what exactly is going on with Mountain State University's accreditation.

One by one each stepped up to the microphone, wondering if the rumors were true, why they didn't know sooner and what they could do to help.

Many officials including President Charles Polk were there to supply answers and also to explain what happened with their evaluation from the higher learning commission.

Andrew Wessels, MSU PR Director: "The Higher Learning Commission issued a show cause order for the university in three basic areas for us to demonstrate compliance with their standards -- those areas are government and organization, administration and planning and resources and effectiveness of learning resources.

The final decision for MSU's accreditation will be in June.
