A total of 32 felony indictments are returned by the Tazewell County Grand Jury on 27 people for a total of 78 criminal counts. Commonwealth's Attorney Dennis Lee says of the 78 counts, all but seven were for crimes of narcotics trafficking.
The indictments represent the culmination of several months of investigative work by the Tazewell County Narcotics Task Force, Tazewell County Sheriff's Office, Richlands Police Department, Tazewell Police Department, Bluefield Police Department and Virginia State Police.
Since January of 2008, the Tazewell County Narcotics Task Force has investigated and prosecuted a total of 288 individuals for narcotics crimes. Since January of 2009, the Task Force has presented indictments for 168 people for narcotics distribution and trafficking.
