CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A local health official and a researcher estimate more than 92,000 West Virginians experienced health issues from a January chemical spill that tainted the water supply of 300,000 people along the Elk River. Skin irritation, rashes and eye irritation were the most common symptoms reported from the spill.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia's Department of Health and Human Resources has appointed three deputy secretaries in response to an audit last year detailing the agency's inefficiencies. The sprawling department has already described plans to create three separate divisions.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Unemployment rates fell in 46 of West Virginia's 55 counties in March. WorkForce West Virginia says jobless rates were unchanged in two counties and rose in seven others last month. The state's seasonally adjusted jobless rate in March rose two-tenths of a percentage point to 6.1 percent.

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (AP) - A federal prosecutor and a West Virginia sheriff's office are promoting awareness of a prescription drug collection effort set for this weekend. U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin and the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office have scheduled a National Prescription Drug Take-Back kickoff event for Wednesday morning in St. Albans.
