LEWISBURG- A new civil war marker was installed on Monday in front of Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg. The marker is a apart of the West Virginia Civil War Trails program and marks the battle of Lewisuburg during the American Civil War.
The battle took place on May 8th, 1862 and only lasted one day. The marker is the third placed in Greenbrier County and is a part of the 150 that will be installed in the state to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War.
Lewisburg Mayor John Manchester said, "The battle of Lewisburg is just another thing that makes Lewisburg special."
