Rachel Lucas joined the WVVA News Team in February 2011 as the Greenbrier Valley Bureau Reporter. She covers the counties of Greenbrier, Monroe, Summers and Giles.
Rachel is a local girl who grew up in Giles County, Va., and graduated from Concord University with a Bachelors degree in Electronic Media and Journalism. While at Concord, she represented her sorority Alpha Sigma Alpha as Concord's 2009 Homecoming Queen. She also competed on the All Girl Division II Cheerleading Squad, and was a member of Concord's traveling choir, the Collegiate Singers.
She got her start in news with her college news station where she had the opportunity to report, anchor and produce. While still in college, she interned with West Virginia Public Broadcasting as a reporter and photographer.
Growing up in the region, Rachel has a personal connection with serving the area she also calls her home.
In her spare time, Rachel likes to do anything outdoors and enjoys visiting her family's farm. She is a huge Hokie fan and loves to watch Redskins football with her dog, Gibbs.
