BLUEFIELD VA. (WVVA) - John Maxwell, Robin Roberts, Dan Cathy, Mack Brown and other internationally known leaders and speakers are coming to Bluefield College, Friday, May 6, by way of broadcast technology and the Chick-fil-A Leadercast program.

The leadership development opportunity like none other in the region is designed to inspire local business, civic and family leaders to "identify and develop (their) own leadership voice" and to be a "voice of change" at work, in the community, and at home.

Broadcast live from Atlanta, Georgia, to hundreds of venues across the country and around the world, the simulcast event will begin at Bluefield College with registration at 8 a.m. in BC's Shott Hall. The daylong conference "for every leader at every level who aspires to articulate and demonstrate the power of change through positive leadership" will conclude at 4:30 p.m.

Headlining the lectures, discussions and insights for the May 6 Leadercast are some of the world's best leaders, including John Maxwell, Robin Roberts, Dan Cathy, and Mack Brown. Maxwell is an internationally known leadership expert and a best-selling author of "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership." Roberts is the anchor of ABC TV's Emmy award-winning Show "Good Morning America." Cathy is president and chief operating officer of Chick-fil-A, Inc. And, Brown is head coach of the University of Texas Longhorns football team and the 2009 Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year.

Other keynote speakers for the daylong conference include Seth Godin, an entrepreneur, marketing expert, and best-selling author of 12 books, including "Linchpin;" Suzy Welch, television commentator, noted business journalist, and best-selling author; Dave Ramsey, personal money-management expert, national radio personality, and best-selling author of "The Total Money Makeover;" Muhtar Kent, chairman of the Board and chief executive officer of The Coca-Cola Company; Sir Ken Robinson, best-selling author and leader in the development of creativity, innovation and human resources; Erin Gruwell, founder and president of the Freedom Writers Foundation; and Frans Johansson, best-selling author of "The Medici Effect."

"This Chick-fil-A Leadercast will include all the inspirational and educational aspects that you would expect from this type of major event," said BC's Dr. Harry Snodgrass, assistant professor of business, "including world-class speakers, valuable networking opportunities, and experiences that will enhance your leadership potential."

Based on the theme, "Your Voice is a Voice of Change, and Change Creates New Possibilities," the Leadercast will serve as a catalyst for new ideas and better leadership practices. The event will focus on building team culture, strengthening relationships with business professionals in your community, generating revenue, and introducing leadership training that inspires and strengthens business and civic leaders in the community.

"As a laboratory for student development with a mission to prepare innovative learners and transformational leaders to impact the world, Bluefield College's stake in hosting this premier event is apparent," said BC president Dr. David Olive. "And, there's not another business organization I know of that emphasizes leadership development and integration throughout the fabric of the organization like Chick-fil-A. Thanks to Truett Cathy's personal commitment to developing leaders, there exists a culture for leadership development that has made Chick-fil-A a success story."

BC leaders added that in addition to developing and transforming leaders to impact the community, the Leadercast event supports Bluefield College's efforts to better connect with the Greater Bluefield business community and to become more involved in local business activities.

"Bluefield College is a part of this community," said Dr. Robert Shippey, vice president for academic affairs. "We live here. We work here, and we have a purpose not only to educate our students in a caring, nurturing, Christ-centered environment, but also to share these same values and commitments with the community of which we are a part. Making the Chick-fil-A Leadercast available to the business leaders of our community and other interested citizens is one tangible way we can support economic growth and the quality of life here in the Bluefields."

While individual ticket values are placed at $169 by the Chick-fil-A Leadercast organization, Bluefield College will offer individual tickets to its simulcast for $65, if purchased before April 15. Individual tickets after April 15 will be $80. Corporate sponsorships are also available at a price of $500, which includes six event tickets. All ticket prices include lunch during the event.
