Princeton Health Care Center admitted its first resident to its 120-bed facility in June 1981. At that time the facility was owned by Princeton Memorial Hospital Company, an affiliate of Princeton Community Hospital. In 1989 Princeton Health Care Center converted 60 beds to a Dementia and Alzheimer's unit. This unit was the first of its kind in West Virginia and is still the largest and longest serving unit of its kind in the state. In 2005 Princeton Health Care Center converted all beds to Medicare and Medicaid certification. In 2009 Princeton Memorial became an individual entity and is now known as Princeton Memorial Company doing business as, Princeton Health Care Center. Princeton Memorial Company is now affiliated with the City of Princeton.
