CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Republican John Raese has loaned his campaign $2.4 million to keep pace with his Democratic opponent, Gov. Joe Manchin, in West Virginia's special U.S. Senate election race.

The latest available Federal Election Commission reports show that Manchin has received $3.7 million from individuals and political action committees. Around $340,000 of that has come in since the pre-general filing period ended Oct. 13.

Raese had attracted around $828,000. That includes $253,000 raised since Oct. 13. He loaned his effort $950,000 during the pre-general reporting period, upping his self-funding total to $2.4 million.

Additional fundraising filings are expected before Tuesday. Each campaign had spent around $2.7 million as of Oct. 13.
