Beckley, W.Va (WVVA)- 

Police are confirming, 30-year-old Amanda Wills is a 5-year- teacher at Beckley- Stratton Middle School.  WVVA spoke with Raleigh County Director of Secondary Schools, Nelson Spencer.  He says Ms. Wills is a technology integration specialist for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.

On Tuesday, Amanda Wills was arrested and charged in the alleged attempted murder of Sabrina Smith's six-year-old daughter.  She's charged with attempted murder, child neglect and child abuse.

Mr. Nelson is not able to comment on the fate of Ms. Wills job due to confidentiality laws.  He did add that Ms. Wills will not come back to the classroom until the investigation is complete.

Beckley Police Captain Jeff Shumate says the department is continuing to interview witnesses and health officials in this case. Shumate expects the investigation to continue into the next several weeks.
