MSHA finds violations at Va, Utah mines

Posted:

Arch Coal says it's been cited for serious safety violations at two of its underground mines.

Arch says in a regulatory filing Monday that the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration issued one citation for an imminent danger to its Cumberland River Coal Co. subsidiary Thursday. Arch says the citation alleges that a contractor was operating trucks unsafely on a road at Cumberland's Pine Branch No. 1 mine in Wise County.

Arch says MSHA cited its Canyon Fuel Co. subsidiary for an improperly grounded pipe at its Dugout Canyon mine in Utah on Friday.

St. Louis-based Arch says in the Securities and Exchange Commission filing that it immediately fixed both situations.
