Posted:

A tribute to late West Virginia Senator Don Caruth was on Friday.

The Flag Dedication Ceremony was held in Athens at the site of the future town hall.

Caruth family members hoisted an American Flag that once flew over the Capital in Washington. That was followed by a West Virginia Flag in recognition of Caruth's Legislative service and a newly designed Town of Athens Flag to honor its native son.

A monument to Caruth was also unveiled at the foot of the three flagpoles.

"Well Don was a good guy. He was a terrific brother, a terrific father, exemplary Legislator and he was devoted to the town of Athens," says older brother Jim Caruth.

Don Caruth passed away in May after a battle with brain cancer. He was fifty-nine years old
