Late Delegate’s son speaks on his appointment to WV House

Posted:

West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin appoints a late Delegate's son to fill the remaining months of his father's term.

Thomas Michael Porter Junior of Glenwood was appointed to the 25th District seat to fill the vacancy left by the passing of his father Mike Porter in September.

Thomas Porter Junior works as a sales representative for a local fastener company.

He is forty-six years old, married, and has two sons.

Governor Manchin says that he is pleased to give Mike Junior a chance to carry on a special legacy that his father left.

"He never was a quitter. He always started a job and he finished it. I feel like I can go up there for these three months and December comes around I can say, Dad, your job is done, and walk out and be very proud," says Thomas Michael Porter Junior.

Porter says that he is undecided about running for the now open House seat.
