MONTCOAL, W.Va. -- Authorities say crews have found the bodies of four miners missing nearly a week since an explosion at the Upper Big Branch mine, bringing the final death toll to 29. Governor Joe Manchin said, "The journey has ended." None of the four missing miners had made it to either of the refuge chambers. Officials say the multiple rescue crews are now recovering all 22 bodies still inside the mine. The raised death toll makes it the worst coal mine disaster in the U.S. since 1970, when 38 were killed at Finley Coal Company in Hyden, Kentucky.
