CHALRESTON, W.Va. (AP) - More than 600 wrestlers from 26 states may help boost Charleston's economy by as much as $1.5 million.
The World of Wrestling's Cliff Keen Eastern World Championship kicks off Tuesday at the Charleston Civic Center.
Civic Center Director of Operations Jim Smith says that when the wrestlers' families are included more than 2,000 people are expected to attend the 2-day event.
Officials estimate those families will pump at least $300,000 into the local economy, perhaps as much as $1.5 million.
Tournament Director Jack Roller said this is the fifth straight year Charleston has hosted the event.
