RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - More than 59,400 customers in Virginia and West Virginia remain without power following the massive winter storm blew across the region last weekend.
The weekend storm dumped more than a foot of snow across the two states, with some areas seeing around 2 feet. Both states also braced for a mix of ice and rain on Friday.
Appalachian Power reported 31,234 outages in West Virginia and 22,300 outages in Virginia on Friday morning. In addition, Allegheny Energy reported 5,922 customers in West Virginia were without power.
Those numbers are less than the 61,000 customers reported to have been without power Thursday.
