CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A U.S. Forest Service employee in West Virginia is a finalist for an award that honors ideas for making government more efficient and effective.
Julie Fosbender with the Monongahela National Forest suggested depositing revenue collected from campground fees and other services into local banks, instead of sending the money to a bank in California.
President Barack Obama announced the finalists for the Securing Americans Value and Efficiency, or SAVE, award on Monday.
The winner will be chosen by the public through online voting at http://www.SaveAward.gov. Voting began Monday and will end at 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
