HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - A Huntington company plans to build a loading facility on the Ohio River that can accommodate up to 15 jumbo-sized barges.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers issued a permit for the facility to Port of Huntington Terminals last week. The multipurpose facility will be located on the Huntington side of the river just downstream from the Robert C. Byrd Bridge.
Port of Huntington Terminals vice president Norman Taylor says the facility will handle wood products, iron and steel scrap, manufactured machinery and other commodities.
Taylor says a construction timeline hasn't been set.
