LEESBURG, Va. (AP) - The economic development director for Loudoun County is resigning.
Lawrence S. Rosenstrauch announced Monday that he will step down Dec. 4.
Rosenstrauch has been the county's chief economic adviser for 13 years. Lately he has been criticized for being too focused on rural issues, such as local food initiatives and wineries, and not enough on attracting businesses to fill empty office space in the county.
Rosenstrauch says the county's incoming administrator, Tim Hemstreet, needs a "fresh start" with a new economic development official.
