BLUEFIELD, Va. (AP) -- Bluefield College has received an $85,000 grant to start a rural health care education program for southwest Virginia.
The grant comes from the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission. The commission was established by the General Assembly in 1999 using proceeds from the national tobacco settlement to promote economic growth and development in tobacco-dependent communities.
To date, the commission has awarded more than $518 million in grants.
