Local pastors speak in opposition of proposed Health Care Plan

Posted:

In Virginia, a few local pastors are joining forces to speak out in opposition of the proposed Health Care Plan.

Pastors representing churches in the 9th Congressional District prepared a statement to present to Congressman Boucher and held a press conference to address their concerns Wednesday afternoon.

Topping their list of concerns was funding for abortion.

Aaron Evans, Director of Spreading the Light Ministries in Martinsville explains, "The new Health Care bill takes it to another level.  It's not the debate of whether or not abortion is ethical but it is whether or not we agree with its ethics or not, we're going to have to fund it."

J.R. Gilman, pastor of Real Life Ministries in Wytheville says,  "We're hoping that Boucher will vote against this government plan, so our tax dollars don't go to funding abortions."

Pastors from the 5th Congressional District held a press conference earlier in the day in Martinsville.

Pastors will have a similar demonstration Thusrday in Virginia Beach.
