FAIRVIEW, W.Va. (AP) - Consol Energy has identified the coal miner killed at its Loveridge Mine in northern West Virginia. The company says 39-year-old Jessie Adkins of Belington was pinned between coal and other material that fell from the Marion County mine's wall and a piece of heavy equipment late yesterday morning.

UNBAR, W.Va. (AP) - The state Division of Highways says drivers are about to get their first chance to cross the new Interstate 64 bridge at Dunbar. Spokesman Brent Walker says one lane of the $83 million span is opening tomorrow. He says drivers will be able to travel in the slow lane from Dunbar to the MacCorkle Avenue exit in South Charleston.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A CSX spokesman says a person has died after being struck by 1 of the railroad's trains in Berkeley County. Bob Sullivan says the accident occurred about 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - An appropriations bill approved by the U.S. House of Representatives contains $1.6 million to improve the West Virginia Army National Guard Armed Forces Reserve Center in Fayette County. Congressman Nick Rahall says the funding would be used to buy and install a high-powered emergency generator at the Glen Jean facility.
