White Sulphur PD Checks 2,000 motorists in DUI Checkpoint

White Sulphur Springs (WVVA) - Police Chief James Hylton says this DUI Sobriety Checkpoint was one of the largest they have ever done.

"Typically during a DUI Checkpoint we usually check between 600 and 900 cars, during this one we checked an estimated 2,000."

Forty-three citations were issued during the checkpoint on Friday. "Luckily none were for drinking and driving, most were for motorists who had no insurance" Hylton said.

Hylton says the White Sulphur Police Department is known for having a zero-tolerance policy on drinking and driving. They typically do around two sobriety checkpoints each month.
