CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A former Mingo County lawyer is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 3 after pleading guilty to fraudulently obtaining more than $119,000 in legal fees.

According to prosecutors, William H. Duty of Williamson entered his plea in Charleston this week to committing wire fraud while practicing as a court-appointed attorney in criminal cases in Williamson.

The government says the 56-year-old defendant altered vouchers for payment of court-appointed defense work for counsel he did not legitimately earn.

Duty could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison and fined $250,000.
