Montcoal, W.Va. (WVVA) - Officials have postponed the 8:30 a.m. press conference concerning the four missing minors and rescue efforts. The first press conference will now be held at 9:45 a.m.
Thirty-two rescuers have entered the Upper Big Branch mine in Montcoal, West Virginia in an attempt to reach the four miners still unaccounted for.
At a press conference at 3 a.m. Thursday, officials said air tests in the mine finally became safe enough for rescuers to enter. They entered the mine at 4:55 a.m. and have been in constant contact with the command center ever since.
Governor Joe Manchin stated that this is still a "full rescue mission," but safety is taking top priority in this effort. Briefings to update the progress will be held at 8:30, 10:30, and 12:30 today.
We will continue to bring you additional updates as they become available.
