WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - The city of Wheeling is giving $396,522 in federal funds to the Capitol Music Hall to help bring the historic building into compliance with the Americans with Disability Act.
City Council voted Tuesday to direct all the city's Community Development Block Grant-Recovery funds to the music hall. The funding will be used to build handicapped accessible restrooms and address other accessibility issues.
Fire code violations shut the building down in May 2007.
The Wheeling-Ohio County Convention and Visitors Bureau purchased the building from LiveNation earlier this year and plans to renovate it.
Capitol Music Hall was home to the Jamboree USA live country music radio show for 72 years.
