Local hospital unveils expansion plan

Posted:

Greenbrier Valley Medical Center unveiled their emergency department expansion project during a special Wednesday afternoon ceremony.

Various hospital officials, employees, and community members showed up for the groundbreaking. It's taken over a year to get to this point and it will be at least another 18 months before the project is completed.

Their current ER is designed to take care of 19,000 patient visits a year, but they're well over 21,000 right now. That's why this expansion is needed.

With these improvements, the emergency department will soon have a decontamination room, an obstetrical and gynacological room with a shower, x-ray equipment in the department, and many other features.
