UPDATE: Truck fire extinguished, no injuries reported

Bluefield (WVVA) - Firefighters tackled a serious truck fire early Wednesday morning in the Travel Plaza parking lot.

According to dispatchers, Bradley Prosperity was sent to the vehicle fire off of exit 45 on Interstate 77 just before 5 a.m. Several other departments responded to the blaze.

The truck was hauling frozen foods, according to state troopers.

Both the driver and passenger of the truck were able to exit the vehicle safely and warn other truckers to move their rigs out of the way.

Although the blaze is now extinguished, crews will be on the scene for quite a while in order to clean the enormous mess that was left by the incident.

Despite the adventurous morning, both the Travel Plaza and the Tamarack have remained opened for business Wednesday.
